Germany is the seventh-largest country in Europe and covers an impressive area of 357,000 km².
However, if you’re travelling by campervan it only takes around 11 hours to travel from the most northern point to the south.
In my opinion, doing a road trip through Germany with a camper is the BEST way to see the country.
You’ll get to explore all the hidden spots, see some of the country’s most spectacular scenery, and park up at some breathtaking campsites.
But finding the perfect company can be complicated and expensive, so that's why I have rounded up the best motorhome and campervan rentals Germany currently offers.

The cost of renting a motorhome in Germany will depend on the size of camper you choose, the duration of your hire, and the company you decide to go with.
Generally, you’re looking to pay between €60-€90 per day for a small campervan, and between €100- €140 per day for a large motorhome.
Unfortunately, free camping (or wild camping) is prohibited in Germany. If you decide to pitch up illegally you’re looking at a hefty fine.
If you choose to illegally park up for the night in a nature reserve, you’re looking at an even bigger fine, sometimes up to several hundred euros.
To rent most types of motorhomes and campervans, only a standard license is required in Germany.
However, if you plan on hiring a vehicle that weighs over 3.5 tonnes, you’ll need a specialised license. So, it’s always best to check the weight of your chosen rental before booking it.
Although you can’t park anywhere with a campervan in Germany, there are plenty of official areas throughout the country.
