TAP TO INTERACT

The rooms at Cassandra Culture Resort

There are a variety of rooms in the Cassandra Culture Resort to suit all sized parties. They are all beautifully decorated and come with aircon as standard. You can choose from a triple room, double deluxe room. or king room. After that, you have the option of choosing a king room with a view of the Sigiriya Rock, or a spa bath, and it does not disappoint.

Rooms come with a mini bar, toiletries, towels, TV, dressing gowns, and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, as well as bottled water (which is provided free of charge as standard in the hotel!) These little extras really make you feel like you are staying in a special place.

It's the little things

The decor has eastern tones to it and the rooms are beautifully bright, and what can I say about the bed….SUPER COMFY! You will struggle to leave the bed in the morning….but, you’ll want to when you see the views from the hotel….(keep reading!)

Super comfy!

The views at Cassandra Culture Resort

We had the pleasure of staying in a room with a view of the Lion Rock, and as you can see below, the view was breathtaking. When the sun shines it brightens all the stunning green that stretches from the rock to the hotel, then when morning calls, you can watch the sunrise upon the rock from the comfort of your own bed with a cup of tea or coffee. A glass door allows the view to stay with you.

The view from our room

The room we had is also a honeymoon suite and it’s no surprise why with the beautiful views. The only thing I would say it’s missing is a bath. A wonderful shower is provided, but a bath is more honeymoon style for me personally!

The pool

If you love to swim, then you’re in for a treat. The pool at the Cassandra Culture resort is magnificent. The water is crystal clear and the temperature warm (thanks to the sun!). There is enough space to swim, and enough space for children to splash around.

Towels are provided by the hotel, and there are sun loungers to relax on with a book, or simply catch a tan. Drinks can be served by the pool for your convenience.

Dining at Cassandra Culture Resort

Dining at the Cassandra Culture Resort was a fantastic experience. It was without a doubt some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka.

Lunch is a delicious affair. The menu offers a variety of delights, from sandwiches, soups, to fish and chips and chicken cordon bleu. Drink options include fanta, sprite, coke, soda or water. A diet drink option would be good (I never drink full-sugar drinks unless I am having a low blood sugar of course!).

Dinner during our stay was a set menu consisting of 4 courses (as you can see below). The food was extremely delicious and the portions were sized perfectly. Red or white wine, beer or soft drinks can be served with dinner.

The dinner menu at a great price!
The food was amazing.

Keep an eye out for …

A brand new spa: The spa is currently being constructed (although it almost looks finished!) and it will offer classic Sri Lankan massages, which will be the perfect addition to relaxing at this beautiful resort.

The elephants: If you're lucky, you might be able to spot some elephants at the resort. On occasion, they can wander into the resort to drink some pool water, so if you hear noises late at night, have a nosey and see if you can spot an elephant! Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys during the day too, they’re always swinging in the jungle that’s ahead of you.

Ps, WIFI is provided and free of charge, parking is available free of charge.

What is there to do in Sigiriya

You can visit the famous Sigiriya rock (also known as Lion Rock), take a trip to the culture capital of Polonnaruwa to see a stunning variety of temples and ruins in this World Heritage Site, discover the Golden Temple in bustling Dambulla, or even try to spot some elephants and leopards on a safari trip to Minneriya.

Our verdict

We think the Cassandra Culture resort is perfect for couples like us looking for a romantic getaway. For the price, it is incredibly good value. Better yet, if you are on a family getaway or a honeymoon, then we think it would also be the perfect place to relax and stay for at least 5 nights or more. It’s got a 9/10 on booking.com and it’s really no surprise why.

Finally a special mention to the wonderful staff of this resort. They are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever encountered and they will do everything to ensure you have an amazing stay.
