I’ve been testing eSIMs on my travels since 2022, and more recently I kept seeing Yesim pop up!
So I figured it was about time I checked out this eSIM, its offerings and how it sits in the eSIM market.
Below I'm going to take you through the different eSIM options availble, the different features a Yesim eSim offers and more.
Let's get started.
Yesim is a Swiss-based eSIM provider that offers data-only mobile plans—available by country, region, or globally, covering over 200 destinations.
Everything is digital: you select your plan online or via the app, pay, and activate your eSIM instantly via QR code—no physical SIMs, no delays.
When it comes to purchasing and activating a plan with Yesim, the whole process is remarkably smooth.
I’ve downloaded the app on both Android and Apple with no issues, and it’s a very simple process to get an eSIM.
Step 1: You choose your destination
Step 2: You pick a plan
Step 3: You pay
Step 4: Download your eSIM and you’re ready to go within minutes
What I really like about the app is that there’s a handy compatibility checker before purchase, so if you’re unsure whether your phone is capable of an eSIM (although most modern phones are nowadays!), then you can double check before you purchase.
You’ll find a wide array of plans tailored to how and where you travel.
Yesim offer global, regional, or country-specific options that cover short trips or longer adventures.
Yesim’s Global Plan offers flexible, long-term data packages—perfect for digital nomads, frequent travelers, or extended adventures.
I really like that data bundles or unlimited plans let you customize usage to match your needs.
If you just need country specific data, then Yesim has you covered there too.
In countries like France, Germany, Turkey, Japan, the U.S., or India, you can expect daily rates starting from €1.43 to €2.10 per day depending on the destination.
Yesim also offers regional data plans which are perfect if you’re visiting a lot of countries in one area. This makes it a great option for backpackers and even business trips.
Their regional plans include:
The pricing for Regional plans is competitive among the market.
Let’s take Europe for example.
You can get over 2 weeks of unlimited data for less than 2.50 Euro a day!
Or you can get a prepaid plan of up to 30GB for 25 euro.
That works out to less than 85 cent per GB!
Honestly, that’s such good value!
Yesim covers an impressive breadth of destinations, from bustling cities to remote corners.
Their SwitchLess® network feature intelligently connects you to the strongest available carrier network—whether 4G or 5G—no manual hassle.
This is a great feature as there’s no data pauses or stoppage as you cross borders.
Particularly good for when you’re road tripping somewhere like Europe, where you can cross about 3 countries (if not more!) in one single day trip!
They partner with top local providers globally—Telcel and Movistar in Mexico, AIS in Thailand, Turkcell in Turkey—ensuring dependable performance wherever you roam.
Support is available 24/7 through live chat, email, or help center. Many users praise Yesim’s responsiveness, reporting quick solutions when they encounter issues.
The interface is streamlined and approachable: plan selection, top-ups, and support are all integrated and intuitive.
One interesting additional feature that Yesim offers is the ability to grab a virtual number.
Yesim offers private virtual (2nd-line) phone numbers that operate entirely online—no physical SIM/eSIM required. These numbers are ideal for maintaining privacy, receiving SMS (including verification codes), and using messaging apps without exposing your personal number.
So far I’ve tested the eSIM set-up and connectivity in the UK.
And honestly, the UK is notorious for terrible internet.
So for where I actually live, an eSIM works better for me. Why? Because my eSIM automatically connects to the strongest network in the area. Which beats my one network sim card that struggles the majority of the time.
I am heading to Italy in a couple of weeks and will also test the eSIM out there too!
The general consensus online from reviews too is that it’s easy to use, and we all appreciate the peace of mind that comes from reliable coverage, especially over long-term regional arrangements.
Switching from a physical SIM to an eSIM brings multiple meaningful benefits:
First, there's sheer convenience. Planning ahead? Activate your eSIM before departure. You step off the plane with data instantly connected—no hunting for kiosks or fumbling with tiny cards.
This is how Yesims works too. You can buy now, and activate when you need to!
Emergencies? Lost or damaged SIMs are no longer a problem. eSIMs are embedded, so they survive thefts or resets and can’t be removed without your permission.
You can store multiple SIM profiles on one phone—ideal for mixing home, work, or regional data plans without fuss.
They’re also more secure and future-ready—embedded, harder to tamper with, and often built to meet modern security standards.
Wondering if your phone works? Here’s a snapshot of major eSIM-capable models:
Apple iPhones: All models from the XS/XR (2018) onward support eSIM—including iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 series. In fact, the latest iPhones are eSIM-only in some regions—no physical SIM slot.
Google Pixel: From Pixel 2 onward, including Pixel 6, 7, 8, 9 series, and the newly released Pixel Fold and 10 series. Higher-end models (like the new Pixels) support eSIM exclusively in some markets.
Samsung Galaxy: Most flagship phones support eSIM, including the S20/S21/S22/S23/S24/S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models.
Other Notables:
As of 2025, even mid-rangers from these brands increasingly include eSIM functionality—making this tech commonplace, not the exception.
Yesim emerges as a polished, thoughtfully designed option for travelers who crave seamless, global connectivity. It offers digital-first convenience, solid coverage, flexible plans, and smart extras like virtual numbers and loyalty rewards.
If you value hassle-free setup, strong international coverage, and a modern interface—and can tolerate mid-range pricing—Yesim is an excellent pick.
If you're hunting for the absolute lowest budget per gigabyte, comparing alternatives makes sense. But for nearly everywhere-in-one, always-on travel coverage, Yesim delivers exceptional peace of mind.
