Wondering whether Simovo is worth using? I've tested the eSIM out to give you an honest opinion on pricing, and ease of use! Spoiler alert, I love it!

If you’re looking for a simple, affordable eSIM that actually works outside crowded cities, Simovo is one of the travel-focused options worth considering. I’ve been testing their UK 3 GB eSIM for the past week — especially interesting for me because my home network (O2) in the Kent countryside is seriously patchy, and I was curious if this could actually improve my data connectivity. Spoiler: it did.

Who is Simovo?

Simovo is a growing eSIM provider built for travellers and people who want flexible data plans without physical SIM cards.

Their whole pitch is about no contracts, instant activation, and affordable mobile data you can use in the UK and over 180+ countries worldwide.

They aim to keep things straightforward — you buy a plan online, scan a QR code, and you’re connected within minutes. No roaming fees, no swapping tiny SIM cards, and (often) better value than traditional roaming packages.

Their website is simple, clean, and effective. All 3 core highlights that super important to me when choosing an eSIM provider.

Simovo eSIM Prices & Plan Options

Simovo’s pricing is generally competitive compared to many other travel eSIM providers, especially for short-term data plans:

  • They sell country-specific plans, regional data packs, and even “unlimited” data bundles.
  • Typical small bundles (like 1 GB, 3 GB, etc.) can start from a few pounds/dollars depending on destination and data amount.

Let’s look at the UK data plan options

Honestly, the pricing is GOOD!

You can get 1GB for £2, that’s straightforward and good value, and the more data you get, the better the value (this tends to be a popular technique for eSIM brands), but I genuinely think the sweet spot here is the 20GB for £13, that works out at 65pence per GB, and you will not run out of data on your trip (the fact is last 30 days is also a major win!)

Heads up: because Simovo covers so many regions, you’ll usually see a sliding scale: small data packs are cheaper and great for light use; bigger bundles cost more but still usually under what your phone plan would charge for roaming or top-ups abroad.

They’ve also got an unlimited data plan for the UK too, which has great pricing, but let’s delve into the Unlimited eSIM plans by Simovo a little more below.

Unlimited eSIM Plans — How They Work

Simovo does offer unlimited data plans — but with some important details to note if you’re used to traditional mobile contracts.

Here’s what you need to know:

Unlimited plans give you uncapped data usage for the duration of the plan — ideal if you’re a heavy user or need data for maps, streaming, work, etc.
However, these plans often include daily or total high-speed caps — e.g., fastest speeds apply for the first few hundred MB or GB each day, then drop to much slower rates (around 0.5 Mbps) once you hit that threshold
What this means in practice: you do get “unlimited data,” but most of it will be at a reduced speed once you’ve consumed your daily high-speed allocation. This is pretty standard among travel eSIMs advertising “unlimited” — just be aware it’s not always consistent 4G speeds all the way through.

Let's look at the UK unlimited plan for example.

You will get unlimited data with this plan, but you can choose what level of high speed data you want.

For example, from 500MB to 10GB per day!

But, this allowance will reset every day.

Another great thing about Simovo’s unlimited plans (and most of their data eSIMs) is that hotspotting/tethering is generally supported — so you can share your data with other devices like a laptop or tablet.

Global eSIM

More and more eSIM providers are opting for a global eSIM option, where you only need 1 eSIM to cover a wide range of countries.

And, in the case of Simovo, they offer a global eSIM that covers either 120 countries, or 130 countries.

Prices are generally higher for this type of eSIM, because it's covering such a wide area, but is a good option if you're transiting quickly through a lot of countries.

With Simovo, you can get a 1GB global data plan for £7 for 7 days, all the way up to 20GB for £99 for 90 days.

It's worth noting again that you can hotspot this data, top it up if you need more, and there are no throttles on speed.

Regional eSIM plans

Regional plans are probably the type of eSIM I get the most use out of, and one I think is the best value.

A lot of the time when you're heading off on an adventure, you tend to focus on multiple countries in one region.

Whether that be a backpacking trip across Asia, South America, Central America, or road tripping Europe!

A regional eSIM plan allows you to pass through multiple countries and not have to worry about reconnecting eSIMs, or having any moments where you're out of internet. I've found this VERY useful at boarder crossings.

Simovo offers the following regional eSIM plans (with many of them also having an unlimited data plan available)

Let's look at pricing for South East Asia

Personally I think the 20GB for £30 is good value, and that would be more than enough data. But you could also look at unlimited data plans if you thought you needed more.

If you're wondering, "how do I know how much data I need?!"

Simovo actually have a really cool tool on their website where you can input different details to get an idea of how much you're likely to use on your trip and therefore how much data you need.

Customer service

Another thing to consider when choosing an eSIM brand, is just how easy it is to get help if you’ve got any questions or issues on, or before your trip.

That’s why it’s great that Simovo has a UK based support network of “humans”, not AI, where you can contact via WhatsApp, or Live Chat whenever you need help.

Real-World Experience — My Thoughts (UK 3 GB eSIM)

So here’s the honest verdict based on real use in rural Kent:

Signal & Coverage

My normal O2 signal around home is weak and unreliable, especially indoors. The Simovo eSIM consistently connected to a different carrier’s network (or a better tower) and delivered data when my usual service just didn’t. I was genuinely impressed — consistent data where I normally struggle

Speed & Everyday Use

For social media, browsing, quick Google Maps checks and Instagram scrolls, the 3 GB pack was more than enough for a week. I didn’t max it out, and the signal stayed reliable. Switching between eSIM data and my regular SIM was smooth and instant.

Setup & Experience

Installing the eSIM was super quick — just a QR scan, a couple of taps, and I was online. No fiddly SIM removal, no wait times. Simovo’s website and QR-based install method felt very user-friendly, even if you’re new to eSIMs.

Pros & Cons

 What I loved:

  • Instant activation with QR code
  • Better data signal in rural areas compared to my regular SIM
  • Flexible plans (small and unlimited options)
  • Affordable compared to roaming fees

What to be aware of:

  • Unlimited plans throttle speeds after daily “high-speed” buckets
  • Not a replacement for a permanent UK mobile plan — more of a travel/data booster

Should You Get It?

If you’re travelling, living in a weak-signal area, or just want a better backup data connection without switching physical SIM cards — then Simovo is solid.

It won’t replace your full mobile contract for everyday UK calls or texts, but as a reliable data eSIM, it works well, especially if your regular network is less than stellar. It's also an excellent option when it comes to Europe and abroad with prices starting at just £1 per GB for some destinations!

Would I use it again? Absolutely — especially on future trips or when I need reliable data where my usual network struggles.
