One of the highlights of a trip to the island of Siargao in The Philippines is the chance to island hop to some of the very close, and beautiful islands next to it.
Actually, the island hopping we did in Siargao was easily one of my favourite experiences from our time in The Philippines.
So if you’re interested in choosing the best Siargao island hopping tour then keep reading for all you need to know.
You can DIY your island hopping tour, but I don’t think it’s worth it when the price of the tours are reasonable and you actually get great value for money.
If you DIY it yourself, you’ll need to hire a boatman and a boat for a day, and this can range from 1500-2000 pesos.
If you’ve got a group of people, then it can work out a great price, but of course this won’t include your entrance fees and that amazing bbq beach lunch that all the tours include (but food is easy to locate on the island hopping tour).
You’ll also need to tell your boat man where to go etc.
I don’t have a specific person you can contact about getting a boat, but if you just ask a few people, you’ll soon find someone.
So on all the classic Siargao island hopping tours, the following awesome destinations are included:
Speaking of snorkeling, any decent Siargao island hopping tour will also give you the chance to snorkel in the beautiful waters.
We did this between the coast of Daku island and Naked island and it was awesome..
Also, another awesome feature of our island hopping tour was the free rum that was provided all day. If you like rum, then you’ll love The Philippines.
They produce fantastic local rum and our tour was all about fun and rum! Our host made it with an infusion of lime and it was truly delicious.
I have to say our guide was so much fun and really made the day memorable.
When it comes to booking your Siargao island hopping tour, you have a couple of options:
In person: So Siargao has lots of tour agencies, some will try and rip you off, others will be reasonable. We got our island hopping tour from a company called “Experience Siargao ''. They didn’t have a shop, it was more of a pop up stall, but they offered us the tour for a really great price (compared to others in the area) and since it included all the usual stops, snorkelling, lunch and unlimited rum, we had a great day! :P This cost us 1000 peso per person which is around $19. BRILLIANT! (I’ve had some people tell me that they can’t find the company we booked with….:but keep looking!)
Online: Thanks to Klook you can actually book your island hopping tour ahead of time online, for a great price. This is actually great in the high season, when tours book up pretty quick and if you’re on a strict schedule time wise, then booking ahead of time and guaranteeing a place is a good idea.
Just be aware that “in person” people can try and charge you over $30 per person! So if you can find “Experience Siargao '' and get the deal we did, then great, but if you’re in a rush and would rather have everything sorted, then book your tour online.
TIP: Buy your own snorkelling kit to bring with you around your adventures in The Philippines. It’s more hygienic, convenient and trust me, you’re going to be in the water a lot!
As mentioned above, you can expect your island hopping tour price to range from $15-30 per person depending on whether you book online, or you barter in person.
I would personally say anything around the $20 mark is an excellent price and you know you’ll be getting a quality tour.
Remember you can book your tour online here if you wish.
Well you can expect an AMAZING TIME and…
