In a world of shifting borders, airport lay-overs, and spontaneous side-trips, one thing you don’t want to worry about is losing your internet connection.

That's where MobileSIM comes into play!

MobileSIM positions itself squarely as the traveller’s solution: data-first, digital-only, and built for people who roam freely instead of staying anchored.

I’ve reviewed over 20 different eSIM brands, so I have a pretty solid idea of what works well, and what doesn’t.

When it comes to reviewing an eSIM brand, I’m looking for a variety of things.

Are the prices reasonable? Is the website/app easy to use and navigate? Is there good customer support? And, can I hotspot my laptop!?

In this review, I’m going to check out all these points, and together we can decide whether opting for MobileSIM is worth it.

Let’s get to it.

TAP TO INTERACT

Who is MobileSim?

MobileSIM are a high quality eSIM brand that serves ex-pats and globetrotters alike with travel eSIM data packs for over 190 countries and regions.

They're part of a broader family of communications brands (under Miron Enterprises) which includes voice and prepaid telecom services, giving it solid legacy experience in international connectivity.

What stands out is how they’ve focused on simplicity: unlocked device, eSIM installation, and then go-live—no waiting for physical SIMs, no roaming surprise bills.

What MobileSIM Offers: Coverage, Pricing & Features

Global scope & plan types

MobileSIM divides its offerings into three broad categories: local-country eSIMs, regional eSIMs (e.g., a continent or cluster of countries), and global eSIMs covering many nations.

Their website lists data packs from as little as €2.58 in some countries.

Let’s look at some country options for pricing to get an idea of what’s on offer.

USA: you can get 1GB for a week long duration for £2.68. THAT is a good deal.

Or you can get 20GB for only £22.24 for a 30 day duration. That works out at less than £1.20 per GB.

Excellent value.

Personally, 20GB would work well for me on a 30 day trip. It’s enough data to scroll and post on Instagram, use your Google maps to navigate, or find places to eat. And when you can, you connect to WiFi!

They also have a range of regional options at effective pricing.

For example, if we look at Asia.

Check the Asia eSIM here

The Asia regional eSIM plan includes 18 countries:

  • Bangladesh
  • Cambodia
  • China
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Laos
  • Macau
  • Malaysia
  • Pakistan
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Sri Lanka
  • Taiwan
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam

And plans go from 1GB the whole way up to 100GB!

You can even get durations that last up to 180 days. But the most common is 30 days.

For me, if I was heading out on an Asia backpacking trip, I’d personally find the 50GB for 90 days a good option.

It costs £77 and works out roughly £1.50 per GB. This would be enough data for me to do what I please on my mobile without worrying about Wifi connectivity!

3 months is also a typical duration for backpacking South East Asia, so this is a well rounded deal!

I also love that you can top up your data if you need more!

This offers more flexibility and the ability to control your budget.

Global eSim option

More and more eSIM providers are offering one single Global eSIM plan, and I think it’s a great idea.

You can buy one eSIM that lasts a year, that covers *most* of the countries in the world and you’ll connect when you need to!

MobileSim also offers this option. You can get a Global eSIM that lasts 1 year with a 20GB data inclusion, for less than £53.

If you’re a frequent traveller, whether it be backpacker, or business traveller, this is a good way to stay connected between WiFi connections, and I think it’s a great deal.

Their Global eSIM plan includes 171 countries and you can hot spot (yay!)

Key features of MobileSIM

1. Digital Activation

As with all eSIMs activation is digital: buy online, install via QR or app, as long as the phone is eSIM compatible and unlocked.

2. Top-up capability

If you run low on data, you can add more (depending on region/plan) rather than buying a new SIM each time.

3. Coverage across many countries

With 190+ countries listed, you don’t need a separate plan for every stop if you’re hopping around

4. Easy to Use App

The app interface is clean, and easy to use. I haven't found it to be glitchy, which is really a common for some eSIM brand apps!

Advantages of MobileSIM

  1. Clear value and flexible pricing tiers – Whether you’re travelling a week or several months, MobileSIM gives you options from small packs to bigger ones, tailored to data-need and budget. Most travellers will find the “just enough data” model cheaper than traditional roaming.
  2. Ease of setup + true travel-friendly model – The brand nails the “get connected when you land” promise. For someone chasing sunrises, city lights and remote trails, not rummaging for a SIM card is a win.
  3. Global coverage mindset – For multi-destination trips, it’s less hassle. Because they offer local-, regional- and global-type packs, you can pick something that fits either a single-country adventure or a grand road-trip across borders. Keeping your home number active (via your main SIM) while using the eSIM for data is another travel-friendly perk.
  4. Hotspotting allowed: I checked a lot of the eSIM plans, including USA, Asia and Global and they ALL allow hot spotting. I can’t vouch for every single plan on the website, but I’m willing to guess the majority of them do allow hot spotting, which is a BIG plus for me!

Disadvantages of MobileSIM

  1. No built-in voice/SMS number in many plans – Because the focus is data-only, if you need a local phone number, outgoing-SMS/call functionality (outside internet apps) you’ll need to pair MobileSIM with another service. But I mean, most of us use WhatsApp nowadays anyway, so it might not make a difference to you (it wouldn’t to me)
  2. Large-scale/heavy usage may hit limits – While the pricing is good, for users who stream heavily, hotspot multiple devices, or stay very long in one place, the fixed-data models might feel constraining. 20GB is the typical high end of data on their plans (some go to 50 and 100), but there is no unlimited data option, which is something that is becoming increasingly popular among eSIM brands.

Final Take

If your travel style is about maximising movement and minimising hassle, MobileSIM delivers a compelling package.

The freedom to pick your data size, the ease of install, and the broad coverage make it a savvy choice for globe-roamers, digital nomads and holiday-adventurers alike.

However, if your plan involves heavy streaming, sharing a hotspot with multiple devices, or you need a local voice/SMS number in the destination, you may want to check your data-needs carefully or consider pairing with another provider for those extras.
