Volcano surfing - With Nicaragua being the ‘land of lakes and volcanoes’, you can’t leave without touring the volcanoes in Leon. There are a number of options to pick from. You can climb San Cristobal (the highest volcano in the country); do a sunset hike of Telica volcano or even camp there overnight and descend the next morning. And, the most exciting of them all, you can “surf” down Cerro Negro Volcano. This is commonly known as volcano boarding and it’s definitely as exciting as it sounds.
Leon Cathedral - Visit the huge, white, magnificent cathedral in Leon, which is actually the largest in Central America. Take some photos here, climb to the top for a great aerial view of the town and tour the inside.
Leon town - Take time to explore the amazing Leon town and learn about Nicaragua’s revolution in the process. You can simply take a free walking tour or organize with a tour company to get a more informative walking tour.
