On a tour of Nicaragua, Granada is one of the best places to visit! To help make the most of your stay, here's a look at the 10 best hotels on offer ...
hotels in Granada

When addressing where to stay in Granada, there is so much to choose from that you will not be short of choice. With lots of Spanish influence, many of the Granada accommodation styles are regal-looking, colourful and neo-classical in their design.

On the shores of Lake Nicaragua, Granada is a cultural hub with welcoming residents and lots of places for you to stay. There are hostels, hotels and guest houses, all ranging in budget to suit your needs perfectly.

Some accommodations are in the heart of all the action, whereas there are other options which are much more peaceful and more tranquil in their demeanour. Wherever you wish to lay your head during your travels to Granada, there is the ideal accommodation to suit your time there.

Using Booking.com or Agoda for accommodation in Granada?

We use Booking.com and Agoda for almost everywhere we travel to, including Granada! Booking.com in particular was really useful for us when we were in Central America, so we chose to book the majority of our accommodation through this well known site.

Wherever your next destination is in the world, Booking.com offers a great range of different styles, locations and pricings of accommodation for you to choose from. We book in to our next accommodation through the use of the Booking.com app or website directly, which we generally find really easy to use, offers the best prices and we love the rewards scheme.

You too, can become a Genius member. All you have to do is make three bookings so that you can be entitled to some fabulous additional perks.

But before you go ahead and book, it’s always worth checking how the prices compare on Agoda as well. That’s why, for every property below, I've gone ahead and confused links to both of these sites. Though their range of properties isn’t as big, Agoda is typically very competitive on price.

Also, they have a unique service called Agoda Cash, which gives you cashback when looking at selected properties. In turn, this can make many hotels cheaper here than Booking.com. We also love how modern their site is, and their recommendations tool that gives you tailored discounts on properties they believe you will like most.

What are the best places to visit in Granada?

There are plenty of things to do during your stay in Granada. You could:

  • Head to the cathedral - Marvel at its beauty from the outside, the inside at no added cost; and if you’re feeling really brave, you can view it from above, too.
  • Take a stroll around the Main Plaza - Enjoying the varied selection of market stalls, places to relax, see the water fountains and there’s even a few places for you to enjoy some food and drink.
  • Masaya Volcano - Explore the magma as it burns vivid red and smoulders away. Some may think this is a strange suggestion and want to keep well clear, but at night this is absolutely mesmerising. You won’t want to stay close to it for too long - the sulphurous smell is not ideal!
  • Roam the streets - Check out the architecture and colour of all of the Colonial style buildings hidden in and around Granada.
  • Explore the hundreds of tiny islands that make up the Islets of Granada - Take a boat or even a kayak and head off onto Lake Nicaragua for a day of exploring.
  • Learn some Spanish - Feeling more academic than adventurous? Why not spend some time learning Spanish of one variety or another in a language school here?
