Frequently Asked Questions

Is this only for people from the UK?

Definitely not! We designed this eBook with people from all nationalities in mind. In fact, we receive a lot of enquiries from people from America, so much of the information is directly applicable to those from the USA.

I've never travelled before, Is this for me?

This eBook is perfect if you have never travelled before with your diabetes. There are some crucial points to consider before you take a long or even a short trip abroad and these are all covered in detail at the start of the book.

I've already travelled, so why would I need it?

I constantly find that by speaking to other diabetics who have travelled I am able to pick up new tips and tricks to help me; especially with regards to what products I should buy. So it’s likely there are things in this eBook that you have never thought to consider. At the same time, I would love to hear from you if you have lots of experience travelling with diabetes and it would be amazing to share your stories on the blog!

Is this for people without diabetes as well?

One of the biggest issues as a type 1 diabetic is finding a suitable companion and preparing them for the potential struggles whilst travelling. So this eBook is really useful if you are not diabetic yourself but are travelling with someone who is. There is an entire section written by my travelling companion, Bradley, which gives you a good insight into what to expect and how to be best prepared.

My child has diabetes. Is it worth me buying this?

I am not a mother myself, but in writing this I have spoken to plenty of parents who travel with their type 1 child. They have offered some fantastic tips and they are all in here in their own dedicated section. Beyond that, the general advice on how to pack and what to do in an emergency will give you deep insight into your child's condition and what it's like to travel with type 1 diabetes.

Which companies have you spoken to?

We have spoken with all of the major pump and device manufacturers including Roche, Medtronic, Omnipod, Tandem and Animus. As well as essential accessory providers such as Frio and Myabetic. Beyond that, we have mentions and tips for all manner of other products you may need.

What countries have you been to?

I’ve travelled all over Europe, and further afield I’ve covered South America, Bangladesh, South East Asia, including Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Vietnam and more. 2018 will see me road tripping New Zealand for 4 months, living in different part of Europe for 4 months and exploring Canada. With all my new experiences, I will be updating this eBook, and you will have access to all of these updates completely free of charge at any time.

What file format is it available in?

The eBook will be emailed to you in PDF format, ready for you to download onto any device, including Kindle, laptops and mobile devices. If you are interested in a printed version of these eBook, please contact us.

How long will it take to read?

The guide is extremely in depth and is not designed to be read all in one go. I would recommend taking some time to read all of the preparation sections before travelling, and then in your own time and whilst abroad, update yourself on other chapters. The eBook is conveniently laid out so it is easy to navigate any points or issues as you need them solved.

Where does the money go?

15% of all profits go to the charitable projects we are currently working on and you can find out more about these on our blog. Any other money left will go towards the running costs of the blog and helping me to spread my experiences throughout the world.

Can I pay by debit card?

Absolutely. When you click the "Download Now" button below, you will be given the choice of inputting your payment details and credit card. If you wish to pay by debit card, then select the PayPal option. PayPal allows you to pay by debit card even if you don't have a PayPal account. When it asks you to log into your PayPal account, simply click the button below saying "Pay with Debit or Credit Card". If you have any troubles with this process, then please do contact us and we can help you through it.

We designed the course to be as applicable to as many nations as possible. In particular, those from the UK and US will find everything you should need. No. We are by no means medically trained and the circumstances of every type 1 can vary greatly. We can accept no liability for you failing to follow your doctor’s health advice.

Absolutely not. The course provides a detailed overview of traveling with diabetes and is useful for friends of those traveling with type 1’s, as well as parents looking to better support their child whilst away.

"This eBook is a wonderful achievement, it's full of really great information and is so good to know it comes from your own experience!"

About the creator of "travelling with diabetes 101" & author of "The Ultimate Guide to Travelling with type 1 diabetes"

"Having travelled to over 25 countries since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I've come across my fair share of challenges. I started this blog with a desire to help spread those experiences and showcase the difficulties and risks that can be associated with travelling with type 1 diabetes. I want to help you overcome those challenges and keep fellow travellers safe.

This eBook is the culmination of over a decade worth of personal experience and is, what I would consider, the go-to guide for all aspects of managing your diabetes while abroad. When researching extra content, I spoke to fellow travellers I met along the way, to medical professionals, and to medical equipment suppliers All of the advice I am giving is accurate to my best ability.

I love to travel, and I believe everyone should have the equal chance to experience the beauty of this world and to see the things I have done. This eBook is the perfect way to help remove the fear of travelling by giving you step-by-step guides and checklists on what to look out for and what to do in an emergency, so that you don't make any of the common mistakes that can be made."
